What to watch this week: Double Wayans! More Shark Tank! Bollywood wives!

TV is the best, but it can be tough to sort through the 700,000 options each week. These are our recos for what to watch this week and weekend.
Thursday
She’s back, baby! Carrie Preston gets a second season (a mere eight months later) as the titular spirited lawyer forever itching for the next wacky case to investigate. Pamela Adlon, Nathan Lane, and Vanessa Williams all pop by this time around. (Global TV app)
Clearly, distributors this side of the pond have tacked on “Village of the Damned” to the title for fear that North Americans may think this miniseries is about birds rather than the creepy children who emerge en masse after a strange blackout knocks up seemingly every woman in town. (Acorn)
Naveen Andrews of “Lost” fame heads up the Pradeep clan, who must endure the ups and downs of acclimatizing to their new life in the United States, including a brutal Philly winter. (Prime)
Friday
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers impresario Todd Graves, It Cosmetics maven Jamie Kern Lima, and VC Rashaun Williams join the tank this season to hear the usual entrepreneur bright ideas (and sob stories), including spending a million dollars on their questionable product and selling their house and moving into a camper to fund their dream. (CTV app)
Katie got into a car accident and went missing for a day, but, thankfully, she’s back and everything should be fine. Or is it? Katie is acting quite strange — and refuses to say what happened to her. No-nonsense detective Riya (Wunmi Mosaku) takes on the case, only to discover that the bizarre things happening in town may have something to do with something ominous that’s been lurking for years under the village bread factory. (BritBox)
Given the choice between appetizers and dessert, we’ll take a savoury li’l bite every time. This new show — hosted by Josh Peck — pits cooks against one another to see who can make the most alluring appetizer, as judged by clients and guests. (The Roku Channel)
Rich-wife reality shows are not normally our jam, but when a season opens with a star eye-rolling “we have three new twats on board” about additional cast members, we have no choice but to binge — especially when one is debuted as an art collector who “likes things more than people”). (Netflix)
Escape to the sunny Cotswolds and immerse yourself in the high drama of the TV industry as its denizens romp and frolic in between making cutthroat deals. David Tennant headlines as the dastardly, beautifully named Lord Tony Baddingham. Think “Hollywood Wives” but with more hounds, horses and high tea. (Disney Plus)
Monday
The Wayans dynasty continues its epic run on television with a new sitcom that teams up Damon Wayans senior and junior as a father-son pair working through the trials and tribulations of living together as boomer and millennial. (Global TV app)
Tuesday
We will begrudgingly recommend this series, even if it does document one of our country’s most crushing traumas, i.e. losing the Stanley Cup to the New York Rangers in 1994. We will take solace, however, in that it also celebrates the generation-defining win of the Edmonton Oilers over the Philadelphia Flyers in 1987. Baseball and basketball showdowns are also covered. (Prime)
Wednesday
While the case against him was mostly circumstantial, there are many law enforcement folks and true-crime obsessives who are dead certain that Arthur Leigh Allen was the man behind the Zodiac killings. (He remains the only person publicly named by the cops.) Now, Allen’s family speaks out about the accusations — and share some never-heard-before stories. (Netflix)
Oh, good, another white woman starting a yoga cult where the path to enlightenment involves spending as much money as possible! This HBO doc delves into the downfall of YouTuber Katie Griggs, who rebranded herself as Guru Jagat to milk cash and caché out of Kundalini devotees. (Crave)
When the Crimson Hose took home a pennant in 2004, they ended a losing streak of almost nine decades. Relive the joyous win with this miniseries detailing how they managed to win the championship at last. (Netflix)
